Small cardboard boxes are made of containerboard which is a representative of the paperboard family. This is typically heavy, thick paper with weight of over two hundred grams per square meter. Further, containerboard is the building block of the side, top and bottom components of cardboard boxes - the inside liner, the wavy, triangle medium and the outside printed liner which completes the box. This three-element ensemble can be repeated and layered or elements removed as needed to accommodate various loads and shipping regulations. In addition, the flutes carry certain amount of air inside - this feature defines barrier protection and helps absorb pressure from inside and out acting as a natural cushion for the merchandise traveling in cardboard boxes.
